Purpose and Introduction

The purpose of this blog is to introduce myself and to seek help from my community, friends, and family. The Congressional Youth Leadership Council has extended a prestigious invitation to me to attend their 2011 conference in Washington D.C.  The conference is a nine day event with diverse speakers, leadership training and a historical tour of our Nation's Capital.  These councils boast an impressive list of speakers that include General Colin Powell, Ralph Nader, Newt Gingrich and Al Gore to name just a few.  I am honored and flattered by their invitation. The offer was extended because I have been fortunate to serve as President and Vice-President on my past student counsils.  I have also maintained a GPA over 3.5 in high school honor classes.  My extracurricular activities include cheerleading, swimming and volunteering at Valley Hospital.  

Fundraising

Currently, this opportunity is requiring me to raise $3,525 for the cost of tuition, airfare, and lodging. I am pursuing multiple fundraising activities, these include accepting donations, custom jewelry, bake sale, babysitting, and anything else i can possibly dream up. Even if you are unable to donate, i'm open to suggestions. Please feel free to e-mail me your ideas for possible ways to generate funds. I look forward to using this experience as a way to better my community. Thank you. 

How to Help

I am currently seeking 170 people to donate $20 (twenty dollars).  However, please feel free to donate more or less if you like.  I will update my collection efforts daily and will post your name if you give permission.  I am using PayPal to make the  contribution easy, if you'd like to make your donation using a different method please email me and I can accommodate.  I am also willing to babysit, wash cars, houseclean etc. for individuals in my neighborhood to raise money if that is more acceptable to potential donors.  My grandfather owns a carpet cleaning company and if any one needs their carpets cleaned, he will donate a 100% of the proceeds to my endeavors.   Time is of the essence and my deadline is April 15, 2011.  Your donation will be appreciated more than you ever know.

Conference Information

The National Young Leaders Conference takes place in Washington D.C. in the summer of 2011. The board selects students who show outstanding leadership skills and scholastic merit, I have been nominated to represent my school and community. I'll have the opportunity to meet government officials, members of Congress, and prominent media figures.
